RNMcLean Interwoven Prayers

My father was a Presbyterian pastor (third generation), but one of his greatest legacies was as a photographer.  He didn't particularly fish much like his father and grandfather, but preferred to 'catch moments' on film.  In cleaning our my parent's retirement home in Bandon, Oregon, we have gone through 50 slide trays (100 slides each!) of pictures - 20 years of at least 2-3 backpacking trips a year.  You can get the 'picture' - a wealth of beautiful images of God's creative glory.
This series of prayers will celebrate my father's legacy in just a small way by incorporating those photographs with Celtic Knot prayers and a digital image that I have drawn and added.  Once again, a haiku prayer will summarize, describe, emphasize, or memoralize the photographic moment.

Friday, April 26    Serenity Pool Prayers
I can't identify the location of this stream and pool.

Saturday, April 27     Lundy Canyon Prayers
A favorite memory is a ‘recognizance hike’ Marg, Dad, and I took up Lundy Canyon prior to Senior Trails hike later that summer.

Sunday, April 28      Mammoth Hot Springs Prayers
In 1962 we took a family trip that included Yellowstone National Park and a visit to Mammoth Hot Springs. You can see us girls in our ‘matching’ gingham dresses.

Tuesday, April 30     Devil's Postpile Prayers
I don’t think I have ever visited Devil’s Postpile National Monument, but Dad and Mom must have been there in the 1940s or 50s.

Thursday, May 2    Heavenly Rays Prayers
I have no clue how many pictures Dad took of sunlight streaming through breaks in the clouds, but they always remind me of God coming to earth.

Sunday, May 5, 2019    Marble Mountain Prayers
The first backpack of the summer was usually the church family trails to the Marble Mountains of northern California in June – the snows melted faster at the lower elevations.
Monday, May 6   Marble Mountain Lake Prayers
One of the many lakes we camped at in the Marble Mts of Northern California.

Thursday, May 9   Yellowstone Falls Prayers
Another picture from a 1962 visit as a family to Yellowstone National Park.
Monday, May 13   Bull Elk Prayers
Yellowstone?  Perhaps.  Alaska?  Doubtful.  Majestic wildlife?  Absolutely!

Tuesday, May 14    Icy Branch Prayers
I THINK this might be a wintery view out the window of the Parker Heights manse in Washington.

Thursday, May 16    Mountain Peak Prayers
I have no idea what mountain peak this might be, but I suspect it is from the Marble Mountain Wilderness of Northern California.

Friday, May 17   Yellowstone Geyser Prayers
Another epic shot from our 1962 vacation of western national parks which included Yellowstone.

Saturday, May 18  Pinnacle Prayers
I believe this is the Pinnacle Peaks from southeast skyline of the Sierra Nevada mountains, an area often frequented for Senior High Backpack trips led by Dad.
Monday, May 20    Sand Dune Prayers
Unknown location!

Tuesday, May 21   Cascading Water Prayers
Again - I don't know where this is!
May  23, 2019   Twilight Vesper Prayers
Dad loved to hold Vesper services in the evening or at sunrise during trails hikes, always setting up a little worship area on a knoll or summit.

May 25, 2019   Peyto Lake Prayers
We visited Peyto Lake in Banff National Park in 1970 as part of our two month trek across the country and back through Canada.

May 26, 2019    Niagara Prayers
We crossed over into Canada during above mentioned trip in 1970 at Niagara Falls.

Tuesday, May 28   Icy Lake Prayers
I'm guessing this is somewhere in Northern California because we could rarely backpack in the Sierras this early in the season - higher elevation mountains!

Wednesday, May 29   Crystal Crag Prayers
I used Google ImageSearch to discover this is Crystal Crag in the Mammoth
Lakes Basin of the Sierras. Obviously a Sr Hi Trails camp picture!
Friday, May 31    Snowy Field Prayers
Unknown location, but my guess would once again be the Marble Mountain Wilderness!
