GOSPEL OF LUKE: Chapter 17

Luke 17: 11-17  Healing of the Ten Lepers
On the way they were made clean.15 When one of them saw that he was healed, he came back, praising God in a loud voice. 16 He threw himself to the ground at Jesus' feet and thanked him. The man was a Samaritan.17 Jesus spoke up, “There were ten who were healed; where are the other nine? 18 Why is this foreigner the only one who came back to give thanks to God?” 19 And Jesus said to him, “Get up and go; your faith has made you well.” (GNT)
How easy it is to take grace for granted!  Ten were healed, but only one, a Samaritan even, came back to say thanks and praise God.  We have been healed in grace.  How often do we say our thanks, declare our praise, and attune ourselves to God with such an attitude of gratitude that we overflow with love for those around us?

Luke 17:20-37   The Coming of the Kingdom

Jesus, grilled by the Pharisees on when the kingdom of God would come, answered, “The kingdom of God doesn’t come by counting the days on the calendar. Nor when someone says, ‘Look here!’ or, ‘There it is!’ And why? Because God’s kingdom is already among you.” (MSG 20-21)
So much time and money is spent on the speculation of the 'end times'.  Are the signs imminent?  I love the phrase that the Kingdom is already among us. No need to put all our eggs into the 'end-times basket'.  In doing so, we fail to live the love of the Kingdom potential right now - the potential in you and me.  If we live the Kingdom NOW, we don't have to worry if we will 'be ready'!
